A busy weekend for the normies

We had a very busy weekend!! We were running around completing home decor projects that we have been putting off for a couple of years. We moved to the south side of Chicago almost 3 years ago while I was in graduate school. That being said, we didn't have a lot of time for home improvement projects. But since I've been on somewhat of a break from school, I have been acting as the project manager for our home.
Here are some of the things we did so far:

We painted an accent wall fluorescent pink. We couldn't find regular wall paint that would produce a similar vibrant color so we purchased a pint from a photo store. We learned the hard way that fluorescent Scenic Paint does not go on walls like regular wall paint that already has primer in it. To paint such a small area took us all day long! The prepping and problem solving was really a pain. We realized that we should have primed our gray wall before painting when the paint wouldn't cover the gray. The paint was very streaky (if that's even a word). We probably painted on 4 or 5 coats of paint to make it work. We also allowed the paint to dry completely before painting on the next coat. Despite the frustration we really love the way it came out!

We made planter beds for our backyard! The photo above is from the Northwest Edible Life website. The website had instructions on how to make these planters and had other useful information on gardening.

So, that's what we normies did over the weekend in between seeing friends and family for the holidays.
